Few water impacts <br />may be anticipated due to the landscape context. Few water demands may be <br />anticipated, since the clay mine is intended to ship raw materials to the Applicant's brick <br />plant without extensive handling prior to shipment. <br />Surface Water <br />The proposed affected area does not contain any perennial drainages, no Waters of the <br />United States, and no jurisdictional floodplain. No wetlands are located on the site. The <br />site is well-drained, with sheefflow from the proposed mining area generally running to <br />the northwest. <br />Groundwater <br />The Applicant has inventoried the site vicinity for groundwater wells. The data from this <br />search indicates groundwater is below the ultimate mining depth. No impacts or use of <br />groundwater is anticipated to result from the operation. The Applicant commits to all <br />appropriate due diligence and adherence to the regulations of the Office of the State <br />Engineer and the Division of Water Resources with respect to protective measures for <br />owners of groundwater rights in the vicinity. <br />Water Demands: Potable, Sanitary and Dust Control Water <br />The Applicant has no significant quantitative water needs for proposed operations. <br />Potable water will be available to workers and visitors from bottled sources. Based on <br />the small overall volume of material to be produced at the mine, the amount of dust <br />anticipated to be generated by the site is below any statutory threshold for site-specific <br />fugitive dust permitting. The applicant will control vehicle speeds and follow other best <br />practices. <br />Discharge Permit <br />The Applicant will conform to the requirements of the Colorado Discharge Permit <br />Program and associated general permits for the proposed activity.
