The post-mining land use will be rangeland. Adjacent land use is rangeland.
Reclamation Process;
After topsoil and overburden is removed and segregated into appropriate stockpiles
using a loader, mining will begin. RedamaYion will be concurrent with mining in that
reclamation will occur on mined acres as mining proceeds across the 40-acre phase.
Reclamation will be an ongoing process throughout the life of the mine. Slopes will
be constructed 3:1 or gentler and will blend into natural contours of unmined slopes.
Fines and overburden will be used to level the active mining floor and secure slopes.
Finished grades will blend with surrounding topography.
At least six inches of surface material, topsoil, or a 50% mix of fines will be
redistributed over the affected area. A# disturbed ~surfates will be sloped to a 3:1
grade or gentler.
The applicant will bond for 40 acres at a time. The applicant will mark 40-acre
phases by stakes, perms or otfier visible markers.
Stockpiles will be seeded if the life expectancy is anticipated to be greater than one
year. This will be assessed by the duration of-the ~oject for which rr+ater+al is t+eirog
processed. Overburden stockpiles will be used during reclamation of the area of
concern.
Interior haul roads are existing gravel roads that will not be reclaimed in order to
service the ongoing ranchingac#~vities.
The water storage tank will remain following the operation. The tank will be
converted to a stock tank forttie ranzfi activities.
Topsoil Preservation;
Throughout the mining area, salvageable topsoil or surface material will be stripped
with a loader and stockpiled: °if a-stockpile's life expectancyis greatertfian one
year, it will be seeded with the reclamation seed mix. Slopes on the stockpiles will
be 2:1 and seeded by broadcasting. Topsoil staticpites-wHl'be signed-astopsoit on
location.
Regrading and Shaoina:
Prior to surface material replacement, a loader or blade will smooth the affected area
and reshape the peflmeter slopes.°•Siopes will be3:i°vr-gentler orbiended taitfi tfie
unmined, natural contours. All disturbed areas will be reworked to blend with the
surrounding landscape2xcepttheftavtroadandtfiewatertank. Aminnnumrof 18
inches of subsoil material will be distributed onto the site, Back slopes will be
scarified to a depth 9f fi inches.
Topsoil Replacement:
Topsoil or a 50% mixture of topsoil and overburden, will be redistributed over the
affected area with a toaderandtifadetoabepthvfatieast5inches:-°i3uetvrthe
loose, gravelly nature of the surface material, compacting may be necessary.
