Cj~ 3.0 LAND USE HISTORY
To assess the possible presence of hazardous waste and/or oil that may have been spilled or
disposed on site, GEI reviewed historical documents to examine the history of the site land usage
and ownership. Information obtained from the Kit Carson Counry Assessors Office and Abstract
Office indicate the following ownership of the site (NW 1/4, sec. 5, T9N, R42W).
The site was most recently deeded to Eugene and Adrienne Fasse on June 18, 1979.
Previous owners include:
1977 - 1979 Elmer E., Elfrieda, and Eugene Fasse
1949 - 1977 Elmer E. and Elfrieda Fasse
1947 - 1949 Heirs of Mary E. White
1934 - 1947 Mary E. White
Aerial photographs for 1967 were reviewed at the Assessors Office and indicated the land was
undeveloped except for a small gravel pit near the north end of the property.
File reviews performed by the Colorado Department of Health (CDH) relative to records or
knowledge of hazardous storage, disposal, or public health violations at the site revealed no
complaints or violations.
According to a telephone conversation with the current land owner, Mr. Eugene Fasse, the site
has been used as rangeland since at least the 1930's. For a short duration in the 1930's [he land
was farmed, but was not economical and was returned to rangeland. In the 1950's, the County
started a small gravel pit on the land; however, not much material was borrowed from the pit
(possibly a few thousand yards).
Based on the Assessors records, in 1967 and 1991 the Area Soil Conservation Service classified
the land use for this pazcel as grassland.
~~M~, 4
