4.12 EXHIBIT L -Reclamation Cos
The pernrit boundary encompasses 160 acres of which 71.8 acres will be disturbed by the three
phases of mining. Of the 71.8 acres, 68.2 acres will be disturbed and reclaimed and 1.6 acres will
be disturbed and remain as an un-reclaimed access road on the owner's property. If topsoil is
spread on the 68.2 acres at a depth of 3 inches, 27,507 cubic yards of topsoil is required. The
Applicant/Operator feels that 3 inches is the maximum amount of material available for placement
during reclamation. Actual material available for placement may be considerably less.
Reclamation Estimate
Reclamation of the permit azea will be contemporaneous with [he excavation of the gravel pit and
at no time will more than 20 acres of the permit area be open and un-reclaimed. Phase I of the
pernrit area will be reclaimed before Phase II is completely opened.
The ApplicanVOperator asserts that since at no time will more than 20 acres of the permit azea
will be open and un-reclaimed, 20 acres is appropriate as a base for reclamation.
Therefore, the reclamation cost estimate will be based on the placement of 8,067 cubic yards of
cover material (20 acres at 3 inches depth) on the disturbed areas of the gravel pi[.
Reclamation Cost Estimate:
Spread & Place TopsoiUGrowth Medium (8,067 cu.yds. x $1.50) $12,100
Seed & Fertilize (20.0 acres x $120) 2
Total Estimate for Bond $14,500
L-1
