TAB 12
1 FACILITIES
~'
Introduction
Construction of the facilities at [he Hayden Gulch Terminal was conducted during the time
period 1978 through 1980. The following describes those facilities end any plans to
upgrade or maintain the existing facilities.
Sediment and Water Control Facilities Plen
There ere currently two sedimentation ponds located within the permit boundary. The ponds
were originally designed by Morrison Knudsen Company in May 1980. the ponds have been
referred to as Loadout Truck Loop Pond (Pond A, Outf al( 006) and Loadout Rail Loop Pond
(Pond B, Outf all 007).
The Loadout Rail Loop Pond was modified in 1985. This revision was submitted to replace
the culvert spi llwey with a trapezoidal spillway constructed of fabriform. No other major
• ~ design modifications have been made to this pond.
The Loadout truck Loop Pond was modified in June 1992. This modification was performed to
meet Colorado Division of Mineral and Geology (CDMG) regulations regarding separate pipe
spillways. A 12-inch diameter culvert was installed above Che existing 24-inch diameter
culvert spi Llway.
Capacity tables for both ponds are shown on Exhibits 12-3 and 12-4. Truck Loop Pond 1 has
a current capacity of 1.11 ac. -f t. to the principal spillway. Rail Loop Pond 2 has a
current capacity of 1.84 ac.-f t. to the combination principal and emergency (trapezoidal)
spillway. Capacities are based on information compiled from October 1992 aerial
photography and 1991 sediment surveys. Certification of these maps is limited to
capacities only and is not intended to verify design and/or construction stantlards.
Information located in Appendix 12-1 Sediment Control - Tipple Area is included here for
historical purposes. Nayden Gulch Terminal, Inc- does not intend to redesign previously
approved sedimentation structures. Exhibit 12-2 shows con[r ibut ing drainage areas for both
• ponds.
1 Revised 03/01!93
