Upon completion of
mining the site will be reclaimed for use as dryland
grazing.
' Topsoil overburden should be removed and stockpiled in a
•non-erosive conf:quration to be used during final
~ reclamation. If topsoil stockpiles are to remain for more
' than Z years they should be seeded to grass and kept free of
noxious weeds until used for reclamation. Russian thislte
should be controlled on existing topsoil stockpiles.
'
As final reclamation begins slopes should be graded back to
3:1 or flatter and topsoil spread to a minimum depth of 6
, inches over scarified gravel. Seed should be planted in the
' fall after Oct.lOth or in the spring before May 1st.
according to the enclosed SC3 Grass Seeding Worksheet (CO-
cC5-5). It is best to plant the seed in using a grass drill.
' If the seed is to be broadcast the seeding rate must be
doubled. Steep slopes should be mulched with 1 ton/acre of
weed free :gay or straw immediately after seeding. The mulch
should be disced in to anchor it from the wind.
The distur~ed area should be kept free of nox:.ous ~.aeeds
during gravel mining and for a period of a least 3 years
' following r~clamat:on.
' If you require further assistance please contact this
office.

1
~ ~ / /

;lark 'Jolt
' Distr_ct Ccnservationist.
1

I
