Page 7 <br />SRB1223 1979-P75 <br />• 13 (Cont.) Structure 6 is located just north of the two track road which <br />bisects the site. This structure is a small log cabin with a wooden shingled <br />roof. It measures 10.5 m (N-S) x 4.5 m (E-W). Tfie caulking between the logs <br />consists of cement. This cabin is sitting upon a cement foundation. There <br />is a brick chimney on the center of the east wall of the cabin. It was brought <br />from N:eeker during 1978 (Phillip A. Jensen 1979: personal communication). <br />To the west of Structure 6 are tyro unnumbered structures. One, a privy, <br />measures approximately 3 m a 4 m. It is constructed of milled lumber planks <br />and has been painted beige. The second, a shed made of rough lumber, which <br />has been crudely put together, measures approximately 2 m a 3 m. <br />Structure 7 is a tiara. The lower 2/3 of this barn is made of logs with <br />corners that are dovetailed in the same maaner.as Structure 1. The upper third <br />of the barn is constructed of milled lnmber that has bees pained red with a white <br />trim around the windows. The roof is covered with corrugated metal. The exterior <br />df the hayloft door has the braced " painted oa it is white paint. The barn <br />measures approximately 15 m (SE-NH) a 12 m. The interior of the barn has been <br />devided used is several different ways. The northeastern wall of the structure <br />has been used to store tack, including bridles, collars, breastplates, and <br />other harness parts for draft horses. Oa the west end is a small pen and a <br />stanchion. Five stalls are present along the northwest wall of the tiara. The <br />ladder to the hayloft, which covers the entire azea of the barn, is is the <br />southeast corner of the barn. <br />Structure 8 is a small (3 m a 4 m) log cabin, which sits on a sandstone <br />block foundation. The cabin has bees roofed with wooden shingles and is <br />construeted_in the same moaner as Structure 1. Two doors are present is the <br />• southwest facing wall. The cabin is currently filled with farm machinery, <br />furniture and trash. <br />To the west of Structure 8 is another circular grain bin. This grain <br />bin sits on .top of a wooden platform, which is on a saadsiane block foundation. <br />Structtre 9, located east of Structure 8, is a small log cabin, which <br />measures 5.0 a 5.5 meters. It has a wooden roof covered with corrugated metal. <br />The cabin has a sandstone block foundation. Structure 4, which is constructed <br />is the same way as structure 1, appears to have one room. Immediately east <br />of the cabin is a cement platform, which measures 4 m (N-S) z 3 m x .15 m (high). <br />In the center of this platform is a 1 m a 2 m a .2 .m (high) cement platform <br />with f~ palts of threaded rods in the following diagram: <br />The fuz tion of these platforms is ualmowa except that <br />they oboiously served as the foundation for some machinery, <br />wfiiefi was bolted onto the smaller platform. <br />Structure 10, located immediatelo south of the road which bisects the site, <br />is another log cabbia with a red shingled vood roof and corners dovetailed <br />in the same maffier as described for Structvre 1. The cabin is built upon a <br />cement foundation and has two bric3c chimneys located along the N-S axis of <br />tFie cabin. The cabin is currently used by a family; therefore, nothing <br />is known of tfie iaterior~.structure. <br />Tdest of Structure 10 is a tvo-seated outhouse. It has been painted <br />red and has corrugated metal sheeting on the roof. The interior of this <br />privy has been lined with plastic garbage bags. <br />Structure 11, the main house, was constructed of stripped logs chinked <br />• with cement. Corners are fitted is the same vay as structure 1. The roof <br />has wooden shingles. The house sits upon a 30 cm high cement.fouadation. <br />The house measures approximately 26 m a 6 m (See map). The two rooms in the <br />southwest cad of the house were built in 1924 (Rio Blanco County Taa Assessor's <br />Records). It vas remodelled between 1935 and 1950 (Betsy Smith and Phillip <br />A.
