Ostrocdski Pit"
I thought I should notify you that only two of the permit applications listed
above (#82-60, the Smith Pit, and #82-68, the Cleighton Pit) are adequate
for presentation to th~= Mined Land Reclamation Board. The rest of the appli-
cations should have a .statement inserted into the mining plan to provide that
the affected lands will be smooth-graded prior to each period of temporary
abandonment (to minimise the contribution of additional sediments to the stream-
flowl and that no mining operations will take place in the active stream channel
during streamflow even`_s. [de will be notifying the Colorado Department of
Highways that they should probably monitor the erosion potential around the
Highway 59 bridge pier: at the Republican River crossing doeanstream from your
"Reid Pit" (#82-69) operation.
The applications For the "bforris Pit" (#82-62) and the "Bledsoe Pit" (#82-67)
also need to be revised to shorn that the topsoil will be stockpiled within
the permit area boundary. These maps should be revised, either to relocate
the topsoil stockpile or to expand the permit boundary to include the present
stockpile Location (in which case you should recalculate the permit area acreage).
Your choice.
