Initial Adequacy Response.
Dear ~[r. Oswald,
This letter and attachments will attempt to answer the adequacy issues pointed out in your
May 3"a letter. I will follow the format of your letter, and address the adequacy issues in
the order (generally) you have lain out.
Exhibit C - Premining and Iviining Plan Ivtap
Please see attached map sheet "one-of--two" (revised Exhibit C) which shows full western
boundary and northwest and southwest adjacent landowners. Also depicted on this
revised map is the southern access road and cattle guard. This road will also appear on
the reclamation map, as it is to remain as a permanent access road for the property.
The stormwater control berm will be composed of native material left unexcavated. As
advised, no topsoil will be utilized as fill for berms.
The woody debris generated by clearing activities prior to mining activities will be
disposed of in vazious ways. Much of the wood will be used for posts or firewood. The
remaining "slash" will be burned on site or used for erosion control to aid in future
reclamation efforts. The overburden stockpiles are also indicated on the revised Exhibit
C.
Exhibit D -Mining Plan
The affected area increased from 46.20 to 46.39 wi[h the addition of the road throueh
phase 7. Please see attached supplemental information, which vas provided to LPE.A
re~ardins road location under LPEA power lines. This road will not require reclamation,
as it will remain as a permanent access for the properties post mining use. The road
segment along phases 1 and 5 will also remain for property access.
For woody debris storage and disposal, please refer to above and revised Exhibit C. The
nature of the material will mainly be brush and stumps left over after firewood and posts
are harvested, and will be handled by dozers and loaders. Burning will greatly reduce the
amount of material. The remaining slash will be placed as out of the way as possible, and
compacted to protect it. The overburden will be stockpiled as indicated on the revised
Exhibit C. Seeding may also be utilized to retard erosion of the overburden.
d.b.a.
