1) the downdip, northwestern portion of the Lower
Pinnacle in fault blocks 1, 2, and 3.
2) the downdip, northwestern portion of the Upper
Pinnacle in fault block 3.
It would appear that mining of both the Upper and
Lower Pinnacle seams in fault blocks 1 and 2 can be
accomplished with a very low probability of encountering
ground water, except possibly at the extreme downdip limit.
Similarly, very little ground water should be encountered
in the Upper Pinnacle seam in fault block 3 except near the
downdip limit of mining. Accordingly, the effects of mining.
upon the groundwater are expected to be minimal."
Since the strata containing the.coal seams to be mined
by Sunland dips downward to the northwest, away from Trout
Creek, it is therefore clear, based on the stratigraphy,
that any groundwater encountered in mining would not serve
to recharge Trout Creek.
Alluvial Valley Floor
The mine yard lies in an alluvial valley floor. With
the exception of the reach between the two faults forming
the boundaries of fault block 3, any interconnection
between the alluvium and the bedrock takes place in strata
below the proposed mining activity. Within the reach
. through fault block 3, mining activities above the
piezometric surface will not affect the existing ground
water movement.
All faults previously encountered in both the Apex O1
and Apex ~2 mines have been absolutely dry.
Note ~1:
This well is a drill hole drilled by Sunland Mining Corporation
on Energy Fuels lease-holding.
