Structurally, the 2 West area is near the axis of the Williams Fork
• Anticline. This structure is slightly recumbent, with the axial plane
dipping to the northeast and plunging to the north-northwest. The western
limb becomes steeply dipping, and Empire Energy intends to continue mining
until the dip becomes prohibitive.
Sources of Data
The 2 West area has been carefully studies by rotary drilling, spot
coring, field mapping, photogrametric observation and remote sensing
techniques. Additional coring from within the No. 5 Mine is currently
underway. To date, coring underground in 2 West has been achieved at two
locations. Please refer to Exhibit C for the location of these holes.

Underground Drilling
The first hole drilled underground in 2 West was located in 2 West 1
R Entry at crosscut 54. This hole was designed to provide a known control
point with which other holes could be compared to determine seam
correlation. This hale designated UG-8, showed the E seam to be 59.1
feet below the F seam, and the G seam to be 24.3 feet above the F seam.
The results of the second hole (UG-9) indicate that the first fault
is a normal fault with displacement downward to the west. The downfaulted
block has a slightly different pitch than the eastern block, resulting in
;~ a scissor-like displacement along the fault zone. Additionally, core
~~' retrieved from the hole indicates that the displacement is on the order of
30 feet in the area of 2 41est Mains which resulted in mining from the F
