~i
October 3, 2001 •
Division of Minerals and Geology
Durango Field Office
701 Camino Del Rio
Room 125
Durango, Colorado
81301
ATTN: Mr. Bob Oswald

~~~,~: W1 ~ Loo I -v 6 q
~~/~~e DP.{- IJuv-~ I,yer~-Va~e.~ Pi+-
lLp~ IIC~J~'tG w
Received
ocr o s 2ooi
re: Del Norte West Valley Pit, File no. M-2001-069
Dlvlsrom~o Field Off~e
Deaz Mr. Oswald, of Mineral 8 Geolo9Y
Thank you for your prompt replies to my inquiries and Written Objection concerning the
above-captioned file.
Please find enclosed my signed Party Status Request Form, on which I have indicated
that I request to be withdrawn from party status.
I do not believe that my being a party to this action will accomplish anything, and will
most certainly delay the inevitable, which is the ultimate granting of ACI's permits.
Myself and my neighbors objected to the establishment of yet another gravel pit in our
azea simply because we already live with 3 active, yeaz-round gravel pit operations within
a mile of our homes. We took our objections and our fight to our County Commissioners
not once, but twice. We won the first round, but lost the second. We fought our fight by
the rules and laws, and we lost our fight by virtue of those roles and laws. So be it. What
we will do as concerned neighbors to ACI's operation is the only thing that we can do:
See to it that ACI operates by the roles and laws that govern such types of operation, and
we will do that. Our County Commissioners have seen fit to set certain guidelines in
addition to those set by the State by which ACI must operate, and our Commissioners
have agreed to oversee from their level ACI's operation, and have agreed to investigate
any and every complaint that may be filed by any neighbor as to ACI's operation.
For me to continue to object to ACI's presence and operation seems to be fruitless and a
waste of not only my time, but that of ACI, your office, and many other State Agencies. I
do not wish to do that, therefore I submit the enclosed signed Party Status Request Form.
