Also enclosed is a determination effect for the proposed pro-
ject.
The inventory and associated reports containing the results of the cultural
resource examinations for the project have been previously submitted (see
appendix A and B). Work on previously uninventoried Federal lands was
performed by Grand River Institute personnel in 1980 and 1983. Survey
work is reported in "Cultural Resources Inventory, McClane and Munger
Canyons Mine Plan Permit Areas," 1980 by Grand River Institute, and
"Cultural Resources Inventory of Several Proposed Roads and Storage
• Areas Associated with the McClane and Munger Canyons Plan/Permit Areas
in Garfield County, Colorado," GRI Project No. 8292, 1983.
Three prehistoric 5GF1147, 5GF741, and 5GF742) and three historic
5GF743, 5GF326, and 5GF879) sites were identified. Five sites fall
within the project boundaries 5GF1147, 5GF742, 5GF743, 5GF326, and
5GF879) and three 5GF1147, 5GF742, and 5GF879) of the five sites are
located on Federal lands administered by the BLM.
Previous correspondence with Colorado Historical Society (May 25, 1982)
recommended that 5GF742 be compared to other rock art in the area; in
this report it is considered in relation to the data of 5GF1147. Also at
this time the State Historic Preservation Officer concurred with the BLMs
not eligible for National Register listing determination for 5GF743.
One site, 5GF741, was considered to be eligible to the National Register
of Historic Places. All sites were mapped, photographed, and recorded to
REC "d`
i;
1 U '`~'~'~ + i53i
