Walter, Project Hydrogeologist
EnecoTech
RE: Variances to rules and regulations for monitoring wells
Dear Mr. Walter:
1E R15 ti DnNlE E50~
Slcrl lary
Your September 16, 1988 letter requesting variances to the water well
construction and pump installation rules for constructing monitoring wells at
Wyoming Fuel Company's New Elk Mine in Section 23, Township 33 South, Range 68
West of the 6th Principal Meridian, and Golden Eagle Mine in Section 29,
Township 33 South, Range 67 West of the 6th Principal Meridian, Las Animas
County, has been reviewed.
Please review the rules for well construction and pump installations that
became effective August 1, 1988. Certain types of monitoring wells may be
constructed by other than licensed contractors under these new rules.
Specific rules that may apply in this case are rules 7.2, 12.1, 6.3, and
12.2.1, which cover construction by authorized individual and notice
requirements. Please consult the new rules to determine if this project will
meet these requirements.
Rule 12.1.1 will cover your request for less than ten (10) feet of grout
seal. Please check the rules to determine if any variances are needed. It
does not appear from your request that any are.
Sincerely,
Bruce E.
