Exhibits 12-1, 12-2 and Figure 13-1 in Tabs 12 and 13. Discharge and water quality data
. collected nines 1985 at thane fiw sites are presented in Tab 7, Hydrologic Description of this
PAP.
Ground Water Monitoring. Ground water monitoring wan initiated at the loadout facility by H-G in
1907 ll91nQ t1I0 Shallow mOnltOring we119 Installed by H-G. The we119 xere installed Sn Order t0
IDOnltOr 9hallOw glOUild Kilter Sn alluvial/COllwial dep091t9 and Shallow bedrock (Ie4IIa Shale) .
The walla (upgradient shallow well and downgradient shallow well) ware located proximate to the
loadrnit: however, It w89 ldter determined the w119 were not pOeitioned above and below all
dlaturbanw d8BOC18ted with the loadaut (se6 Exhrbit 12-2) . A9 d oOnaequenw ~ d th1.Ld well ~
HGDAL3, was installed immediately downgradient of the loadout and all disturbanw on 10/28/93.
Well ocm~letion and aquifer teat information for H(~AL3 axe presented in Attachment 7-2 to Tab 7.
Figure 13-2 presents a wall completion sketch for the original downgradient shallow well
(HGDAL2), x)tich was completed in 1987. The upgradient shallow wall was completed in a similar
ma^^er and at a similar depth as depicted in Figure 13-2. Monitoring for water levels and water
quality was acted semiannually (spring and fall) beginning in 1987, excepting 1988 and 1990,
when an additional sampling round was performed at both wells durrng the amm~r.
A majority of the gx+ound and surfaw water monitoring conducted by H-G was performed after the
• lest of the coal stockpile at the loadout Facility was shipped out in 1986. From 1986 through
1992, the loadout =~+^d+ inactive and all opal storage, handling, a~ shipping activities ware
diamntinued. Therefore, the data collected from 1987 through 1992 was only a:^+^~~ly influenced
by the small „em.~^~ amount of coal left on site (opal stockpile leacbate) or activities
associated with the loadout, and may be considered to xe£lect natural conditions. Sines 1993,
HGTI has shipped approximately 170,000 tone of coal in 17 trains. A small pile of coal r~+^e
at the coal stacJcer for the annual scale test.
Monitoring Site IDs. Different monitoring site name identifiers haw been established for all
historic monitoring aitea and site IDs haw also been established for the new atxeam and alluvial
well monitoring sites.
