Simpum
DATE: August 6, 1997 Slale Engineer
TO: James C. Stevens, Senior Environmental Protection Specialist
CC: Division 2 Office; District 12 Water Commissioner RECEIVED
FROM: Heidi Frey, P.E. ~%~~
RE: Parkdale Project Pit, File No. M-97-054 AUG 0 6 1997
Operator: Agile Stone Systems, Inc., Contact: Bill Fehr
(303) 741-2556 Division of Minerals a u6Jioy;
Section 12, Twp 185, Rng 72W, 6th P.M., Fremont County
CONDITIONS FOR APPROVAL
® The proposed operation does not anticipate exposing groundwater. Therefore, exposure of ground
water must not occur during or after mining operations.
^ The proposed operation will consume ground water by: ^ evaporation, ^ dust control, ^
reclamation, ^ water removed m the mined product, ^ processing, ^ other:.
Prior to initiation of these uses of ground water, the applicant will need to obtain either a gravel pit or
other type of well permit, as applicable. However, prior to obtaining a permit, an approved water
supply plan or decreed plan for augmentation is required.
® Prior to approving a well permit, the applicant must conduct a field inspection of the site and
document the locations of all wells within 600 feet of the permit area. The applicant must then obtain
a waiver of objection from all well owners with wells within 600 feet of the permit area or request a
hearing before the State Engineer.
® Other: The applicant anticipates pumping 30,000 gpd from a proposed well to be used within the
process. The applicant must obtain a well permit, and without an approved plan for augmentation, it
is unlikely that a permit can be approved.
COMMENTS: This office recommends that the proposed project not be approved until the applicant has
obtained a plan for augmentation or an approved substitute water supply plan to replace depletions caused by
the pumping of ground water from a well.
