Jim Schmeiding, C010. Dept. Of Netwa~ fteS'UUfCBS
We are writing to you concerning the proposed gravel pit by The Three Bell
Ranch Associates ill Larimer County. The Larimer County planning Board failed to
notify us about the proposed gravel pit and also the hearing on the project before
the Larimer County Commissioners, so we did not get the opportunity to state our
5.
portion on the said project at that time. We did contact the planning Board later
and they informed us that the State handles the regulations concerning gravel pits,
so I am writing to you, stating our position at this time.
The New Cache La Poudre Irrigating Co, has their llitch immediately adjacent
to the Three Bell Ranch property. Our ditch carries in excess of 600 S. F. of
water at times, when we are in the irrigating season. Due to the large amounts of
The water that we run, and the fact that our ditch and the surounding land is of a
very gravely nature, we feel that any excavation close to our ditch, will have a
tendency to take water out of our system. Since water is a very critical item to
us, we would request that the gravel excavation be kept a sufficient distance away
from our llitch to alleviate the problem. We think that perhaps 300 feet would take
care of the problem. If the gravel pit is excavated closer than the 300 feet we
would request the developer be required to install a pump, or pumps to pump the
water back into our ditch, at their own expense.
We also have a headgate at the propose site and a small ditch through the
Three Bell Ranch property. We do not in any way plan to give up the use of the
headgate or the ditch because we do use both of them and plan to do so in the future.
If the developer wishes to change the ditch to a different place, we would have no
objection, providing that the change of said ditch would first be approved by 'Phe
New Cache La Poudre Irrigating Co., and that any expense of said change would be
paid by the developer.
