Mr. Ken Klco - Page 5
July 28, 1977
• wheels ie the
would be the moat desirable drill. Seeding
same ae those listed previously. depth end time of seeding
The areas could be seeded
to any one of the following adapted mixes:
A. Indian ricegrase j lbs. PLS~Acre
Just prior to, during, or immediately following the seedings, the area
• should be treated with 30 to 40 pounds of available nitrogen and about
30 pounds of available phosphate per acre.
The area should be manure and straw mulched as soon as the seed and
fertilizer are applied. This is needed to provide some protection
against the drying effects of the sun and winds. I don't feel that
it would be necessary to anchor the mulch on these more gentle sloping
areas.
If water is available, the areas should be irrigated immediately follow-
ing the seeding. The ground should be kept moist for the first 15 to
20 days while the seeds are germinating. Regular irrigations after
germination for the next 30 days would be very desirable.
V. General Comments
1. If irrigation water will be available to you for the dura-
tion of this project, the possibility of developing a drip
irrigation system for the tree and shrub plantings to be
put on the more critical steeper slopes should be considered.
If you would agree on this, our Service could work with you
on the feasibility and design o£ such a system.
~J
,~ .
~¢
