February 1999 Yoast :Nine " 1312 Drainage and Sediment Contro; Plan ~ 8
Channels SEDCAD4 Results. The design results are summarized on Figure 13-12.3, Post Mining
Channel Designs. As shown on this figure, channel sections with shallow slopes or low flows will•be
grass-lined. However, channels with steep slopes and velocities exceeding 4 fps will be armored. The
Pader method for steep slopes was used to estimate rip rap size. $ased on our experience, the rock •
size estimated by Pader was a little loo aggressive. Therefore, we have doubles the rock size required
for design purposes.
7.0 TOPSOIL STOCKPILE SAE
A request for a small area exemption (SAE) has been included in this submittal to cover the planned
topsoil stockpiles at the Yoast mine. Runoff from the stockpiles will be controlled by constructing a
small containment berm immediately down-gradient of the piles. The SAE request is presented in
Appendix 13-12.4, Topsoil Stockpile SAE, of this Attachment.
8.0 REFERENCES
Barfield, Warner, & Haan (1981).
