The site is dominated
' by ro111ng "Badlands" topography to the so•ith~vest. This ''Badlands"
topography is made vp of Atancos Shale, cut and v*eathered by inter-
mittent streams Bisecting the upland areas.
' This site is proposed for a sand and gravel pit. The depth to
the gravel layer is greater than 20 feet anti is no[ greater than
10 feet in total thickness. Flith the amo~lrt of overburden over the
gravel, there is a high risk for collapse ofE the sidewalls and
creak areas around the open pit. In some cases, there may not be
any gravel of economic va1~1e and a subs~rrfnce investigation should
' be done to provide a soils profi
of large amounts of overburden, le and to retermine the risk factor
sloughinc and collapsing into the
pit.

1
'~
Colorado Springs, Colorado Pueblo, Colorado Grand Junction, Colorodo Glenwood Springs, Colorado Ewnston, Wyoming
