' EXHIBIT "ll"
h1INING PLAN
1
The proposed mining operation will be concerned with sand and gravel
' extraction for road base material. Pit-run mining methods will be employed
for this purpose.
The affected lands in question have not been mined prior to the date
of this permit application.
Earth moving will be accomplished with track driven bull dozers and loaders,
' rubber tired motor graders, rubber tired self loading scrapers, dump trucks.
lYater wagons will be used for dust control. Crushing equipment will be moved
from phase to phase as the needs of the mining operation require. Mining
' efforts will not be conducted witlun 50 feet of property lines or 200 feet from
the Orchard 61esa A'o. 2 Canal.
~,' A portion of the excavated material will be crushed and sized according to
specifications. The remaining excavated material will be stockpiled, and offered
for sale as pit-run. Crushed and pit-run material will be stockpiled on the
affected land and sold as the demand requires. Any topsoil or overburden that
' is removed will be stockpiled on the site to satisfy reclamation efforts.
The site presentl}- has approximately 20 percent ground cover vegetation
' and negligible tree cover. Any amour: of vegetation or debris that has to be
removed will be replaced at the time of the reclamation effort. Because the
e~sting overburden crust is less than 4 inches ii: thickness, the applicant will
only replace the overburden material removed.
The depth of sand <<nd gravel deposits are estimated by the applicant at
25 to 30 feet. Existing overburden is almost non-e::istent in some po:•tio;~s of
the affected area. A ma~icos shale bedrock underlies the sand ;.nd gravel
deposit. .
' SVater table depth is estimated by the applicant to be well below the mined
material. Because all of the mined material is above t11e water table, the mined
area cvill not have to be dewatered. Because there will not be a dewatered
discharge a NPDES Discharge Permit cvill riot be nece;.sary.
A Colorado Department of Health Air Pollutant Emission Permit -"1'-1OG00 for
crushing equipment will be transfered to tlus site. Tlie applicant pJ uis to
apply for another Air Pollutant Emission Permit for t]~e pit mining activities.
Because of an unpredictable economy and reduced construction activity
during inclement weather, it is difficult to estimate an exact mining time table.
At this rime, the applicant fc~ls that five seperate phases of appro~-imately 10
acres each will satisfy sales demands. The applicant estimates that each phase
can be completely mined during a one calendar year period. If this estimate
is accurate, one can expect a mine life of 5 years. 119ining operations will be
conducted in a chronological order according to phase number.
' 7'he applicant will proceed with on site mining operations within thirty days
of pei•init issuance.
1
