vertically and one inch horizoadtelloYf
The tunnel has an average g
3%sloping down to the mine. Unfor-
tunately, this requires that loaded
ore trains must ascend to the mill
elevation. To reduce net power re-
quirements, however, some haulage
power is supplied from regenerative
braking through the traction motors
on empty ore trains returning to the
mine.
The rail system was designed
for fully automated, computer con-
trolledoperation. Six ore trains, con-
sisting of four electric locomotives
and 26 ore cars each, make the 1 t/z hr
round trip at an average speed of 25
mph. Each train load will contain
about 600 tons of ore.
MiIllCancentrator
Upon arrival at the mill, ore cars un-
load automatically and continuously
through hinged car bottoms into a
54 84 in gyratory crusher. The -9
in product from the crusher is trans-
ferred to a large storage bin by
means of a conveyor system. A sec-
ond conveyor system carries ore
from storage to the primary mills.
Again because of the physical
properties of the ore, semi-autog-
enous millinq_was selected as the
best method for final ore break-
down. Three 28 ft diameter by 14 ft
long semi-autogenous mills will be
used when the mine reaches full
production capacity. At present, two
are on stream. Two-, three- and
four-inch balls were charged ini-
tially,although subsequent make-up
will be in the form of four-inch balls
only.
Ore processing proceeds by the
conventional milling-flotation/
concentration system shown in the
flowsheet, the product being stan-
dard grade 91% MoS, at 325 mesh.
Additional upgrading can be
achieved through either further mil-
ling and flotation or through a 16 hr,
185 F leach in 5%HCI to remove lead.
Product is packed in drums and
trucked 35 miles to a railhead at
Kremmling, Col. From there, it is
Flowsheet for Henderson Concentrator.
