• EXAMINATION PROCEDURES
The paleontological survey of Oxbow Mining Inc. Company's proposed Elk Creek Mine
D-Seam exploration project drill site locations with associated access roads was
conducted by Paleontological Investigations (P1) personnel. On Tuesday, Wednesday,
and Thursday June 5th, 6"', & 7'", Fred Olsen conducted a onsite investigation and
pedestrian survey for paleontological resources of the access roads and 16 proposed
drill sites on both the east and west sides of Bear Creek.
These sites are north of the North Fork of the Gunnison River located in Townships 12
and 13 South in Range 90 West and Townships 12 and 13 South in Range 91 West,
on the USGS Bowie and Somerset 7.5 minute.topographic quadrangle maps.
Drill site locations were taken from an April 30`h, 2001 topographic map with scale of
I" equals 500 feet provided by Oxbow Mining. A circular area with a radius of 500 feet
(18 acres) centered on the drillsite as represented on the map was surveyed. In
addition two zig-zag transects 100 feet wide = (435 ft./acre) were walked along both
sides of the access routes. A total of 330 acres were surveyed for this project. A copy
of this map (Figure 2) is provided with this report in a pocket in the back cover.
SURVEY RESULTS
• No significant paleontological resources were found in the project area and
paleontological clearance is recommended.
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The paleontological survey of Oxbow Mining InC.
