Justification: This segment of the surviving rail is e <br />contributing element-of a railroad line that has been officially determined eligible for its <br />association with the expansion of railroads across the central Rocky Mountains beginning in <br />the 1870s and continuing until the 1930s. As a result, it is eligible under Criterion A: The <br />trestle and grade are representative of the design and engineering that was used in the <br />construction of high country railroads.
