• FIELD METHODS <br />On May 23-24 and July 9, 2001 Thomas Lennon of WCRM conducted a Class III pedestrian <br />inventory of the Project Area. The Project Area is approximately 1330 acres in size and located <br />in steep and densely forested terrain. The accessible~ortions (approximately 60 acres} of the <br />Project Area were 100% covered. Areas of open terrain, existing roads, trails, erosional azeas <br />and exposed earth (i.e., roads and animal burrows) were thoroughly examined. Ground visibility <br />was poor in most areas and the terrain was very steep. Cultural resources were recorded an the <br />appropriate Colorado Cultural Resowce Survey Forms (see Appendix), mapped and <br />photographed. No artifacts were collected nor was any laboratory work conducted. The location <br />of each resource was plotted on the USGS topographical quadrangle. All project records, field . <br />notes, photographs and negatives are on file at WCRM's Boulder office. <br />Isolated finds are the occurrence of four or fewer pieces of debitage, tools or tool fragments. A <br />prehistoric site is defined as five or more artifacts, two or more features or features associated <br />with artifacts. Historic sites consist of linear features and any historic structure or feature <br />composed of five or more historic artifacts no more than ] 00 feet apart. Historic materials had to <br />be 50 or more years of age to merit being recorded. <br />• <br />35 <br />
