WCRM and one Fort Lewis College. WCRM completed a Class II of the Sylvester Gulch Area <br />of the West Elk Mine. Two previously recorded historic homesteads, one historic rock art panel <br />and two isolated finds were identified (Lennon et al. 1996). Fort Lewis College (Applegarth and <br />Hurlbutt 1977) recorded two historic sites while surveying the Mt. Gunnison Mine #1 and its <br />support facilities. hnmediately south of the Project Area Conner (1995) conducted a Class III <br />survey for the Somerset Mine and recorded two prehistoric isolated finds to the north and just ~ <br />above the North Fork of the Gunnison River; one was a mano while the other was a flake. Grand <br />River Institute {Conner and Davenport 2000) conducted a Class III survey west of the Project ~ <br />Area in the Iron Point Coal Lease Tract. Two sites, a historic rockshelter and a prehistoric <br />campsite, were recorded. Near Bowie, WCRM conducted a Class II survey of the Jumbo <br />Mountain Tract of the West Elk Mine (Lennon 1994).
