. RECLAMATION PROCEDURES
The seismic line exploration disturbances will be reclaimed to predisturbance
levels. The use of existing roads and cross-country travel will result in little, if any,
impacts. Excessive road-rutting, severe soil compaction or vegetative losses which
might occur will be scarified and reseeded. The shot holes will be backfilled and
seeded. Any remaining soil will be evenly distributed to blend with the surroundings.
A minimum of one hundred feet will be maintained between the disturbance areas
and the stream channel.
The bedrock well installation activity will be closely monitored to ensure no
contributions to runoff occur to the streams. All pits will be dug with a backhoe,
separating topsoil and subsoil. Cuttings and drilling fluids will be contained within the
pits. Upon well completion, the pits will be allowed to settle prior to backfilling. The
topsoil will be placed on the stabilized pit and reseeded.
• The alluvial wells and associated backhoe pits will be treated with similar caution.
Excavated soils will be separated, and backfilling, topsoiling and reseeding will occur
prior to leaving the site. The limited amount of cuttings associated with drilling
alluvial wells will be scattered to blend with the surrounding terrain.
The pre-exploration uses of livestock grazing, hayland, small grain farming and
wildlife habitat will not be altered by the proposed program.
Some of the exploration holes may be located in small grain fields. Reclamation
of these sites will consist of backfilling the pits as described above, reestablishing pre-
disturbance topography and mitigating any severe soil compaction. Revegetation of
these sites will be accomplished by compensating the surface owner or planting the
crops normally grown, as the case may be.
For those disturbed areas not located in haylands or small grain fields, a seed mix .
will be broadcast to approximately 30 pounds per acre. The mix will be composed of a
• balance of warm and cool season grasses and shrubs, with final selection based upon
commercial availability. The following list of plants is from the approved permit
PR-31-18 -18-
6/10/83
