The M2 parting trend to the east is considered the best possible fit according to current data.
. It could trend further to the east, but is actually more likely to stay further west. Development in
the B seam in the 17LW that portrayed a more easterly trend of the M2 gave rise to the projection
that Showed the more easterly trend.
2. Extending existing planned longwall blocks into the easterly trend of the M2.resulted in the
mineable acreage (about 178) within the WFT. In turn, higher ash was anticipated towazd the
east as the M2 is expected to phase in, which lead to quality calculations indicating that coal
resources mined on the WFT are expected to be of less overall quality than those mined from the
B seam where there is little or no M2 influence. A consistent excavation height of 11.8 feet was
used in the calculations.
3. Recovery factors relate to the type of excavation, either development entries or a combination
of development and full longwall extraction.
BLM reviewed existing coal resources in all the seams in the WFT but found none were mineable
except those included in the B seam. The WFT was broken down into a mineable area, that was in
turn separated into three areas by ash content as noted above. Additionally, coal with little data to
support quality and quantity was considered unmineable but included in the tract to avoid possible
future bypass.
Estimated Recoverable Reserves As tabulated above, the estimated recoverable reserves in the
• delineated WFT is 2.374 million tons.
