Drell
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
RE: MICHAEL'S PIT PERMIT
Dear Rade:
•
COUNTY ENGINEER
~f-..~,F.T't.r~. aEl
n, 1 a 1977
MIP!~D L~,':J F~CL"~~d;1TIOiJ
Co!c. Uept. of r:~!~;ral P.esa,~rces
Pursuant to our meeting and discussion of December 8, 1977,
I request that you add the following information to the
La Plata County's application for a gravel pit permit for
the pit known as the MICHAEL'S PIT.
M~•ning Plan
1. It would be nearly impossible to determine the ranges
of depth and amounts of overburden existing within the
affected area since most of it has already been removed.
2. The depth of extraction ranges from 5' to 35'. It is
the County's intent not to extract material any deeper
than has already been accomplished in the deepest secti~~n.
3. The existing slopes within the affected area range from
1'x:1 to 3:1. There is also a vertical highwall 30 feet
in height along the Eastern boundary of the affected ar~aa.
The County mining plan includes that this highwall will
not be disturbed from its 30' height.
4. The direction of proposed mining will be from the highw~ill
West.
5. There should be no enlargement of the perimeter of the
presently existing affected area.
Reclamation Plan
1. Because of the surrounding topography, preparation of
slopes for drainage purposes will not be a problem.
2. Grading and sloping will be accomplished so as to best I~re-
vent erosion of soils.
