COLORADO 90001
co~~tru~t~o~ co.
September 14, 1977
Mr. Rade Orell
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St.
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Menzer Quarry File ~~76-9 HR
Dear Sir:
P H O N E i? i~ 1 i 5 1
On ,Tune 23, 1977 the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board approved cur ap-
plication for a penuit on the above referenced Quarry and set the Reclamation
Bond at $79,000.00.
It was brought out at the hearing that the bond could be reduced conE.iderably if
the fines to be put on the terraces and the bottom area was reduced Tram two feet
to one foot is thickness and that one foot was considered ample to sLlstain plant
life. Since this material has a market value in the Southwestern Colorado Sptings
area and the Ft. Carson area due to the expansive nature of the clay soils, we
wish to change our reclamation plan.
For your information the area to be reclaimed is 25.26 acres which ic7cludes 9,66
acres in terraced slopes and 15.60 acres in the pit floor and processling areas.
One foot of fines spread over 25.26 acres equals 1,613.33 C.Y. per a~:re x 25.26
acres or 40,753 cubic yards to be spread and seeded.
Since a large portion of this material will be spread during our exc,RVation and
crushing process we do not anticipate any large cost upon completion except the
seeding and fertilizing. If I can be of any further help in this matter, please
let me know.
Very truly yours,
SCHMIDT - TIAGO CONSTRUCTION CO.
By: ~ l~-•' ~ GG•G G ~-
T. C.
