Section 780.21(b) Continued. <br />have been identified on Map 17, Kerr Tipple Area Hydrology. These zones <br />have been marked in the field in accordance with 30 CFR 816.11 with <br />highly visible signs placed close enough together so that at least one <br />sign is visible at any point along the boundary of the buffer zone. The <br />buffer zones will insure that disturbance near streams meeting the <br />criteria of 30 CFR 816.57 (c) will be minimized such that neither <br />physical disruption or uncontrolled sediment contribution will occur. <br />Drainage and Erosion Control. <br />The primary methods for erosion, sediment and drainage control are based <br />on minimizing the potential impact by disturbing no more area than is <br />necessary at any one time, by promptly reclaiming mined areas, by <br />promoting prompt revegetation, by trapping sediment and by detaining <br />runoff as close to the disturbed areas as possible. In certain instance, <br />runoff from undisturbed areas will be diverted away from disturbed areas. <br />The size of the disturbed area will be kept small by removing topsoil no <br />further in advance of excavations than is necessary, by backfilling and <br />regrading spoil as soon as possible, and by replac- <br /> <br />780-93R Revised - August, 1991 <br />
