noxious weed seeds and certified weed-free. At least half of the material will be 10 inches
long or longer. The mulch will be anchored by the use of the conventional straw crimper.
Crimping will be conducted so that it generally does not sever the mulch. Mulching will
not be conducted when wind velocities at the site exceed 15 miles per hour. Where
mechanical crimping is not practical or possible, the mulch will be anchored with
commercial netting.
Reclaimed areas will be protected from grazing and trampling until the seed is well
established (generally a minimum of two years from the time of seeding). Weeds will be
controlled by mowing as appropriate during seedling establishment.
Long-term erosion control will be accomplished by maintenance of the specified
vegetation on the landfill and maintenance of the drainage structures and contours.
J. Post Closure Site Maintenance. Post closure maintenance will be performed, as needed,
based on routine inspections of the site. inspection of the site will include checking for:
• surface soil cracking;
• ponding;
• erosion;
• proper slope;
• proper drainage;
• erosion of channels;
• monitoring station conditions; and
• vegetative cover conditions.
K. Hydrologic Effects. Not applicable in this case. After reclamation there will be no
detrimental hydrologic effects, no off-site drainage, proposed future land use is
Rangeland.
L. Reclamation Costs. Anticipated reclamation costs associated with the proposed pit area
are shown as cost per acre. All costs include labor. The area of the pit to be reclaimed is
9.0 acres.
Estimated Costs
• Backfill & Shaping 2hrQ $ 1 200
• Topsoil Application 1hrQ 50 50
• Seed Cost 50
• Mulch C$20/ton 40
• Discing/Drilling 100
Total Estimated Cost Per Acre $440
