F,XAIRTT ("
MINING PLAN
Mining Plan:
(a) Mining of the clay deposit is scheduled to commence approximately May 1, 1999
and end approximately June 1, 2005.
(b) Topsoil depth is approximately 4". The topsoil will be stripped and stockpiled
from the active mining azea. Sloping of this stockpile will be no steeper than 3H:
1 V and the slopes will be mulched with straw to prevent wind or water erosion.
Operator will also seed the stockpiles with a suitable cover crop to minimize weed
production. Topsoil stockpiling will be approximately 3,000 cubic yazds. The
topsoil stockpiles will be located in the south part of the pit which is adjacent to
Highway 61.
(c) This overburden will be separately stockpiled in the above manner (b)
(d) Thickness of the clay deposit is substantial; test holes reveal deposits up to 10 feet
deep. For this reason even though at least 4.5 acres has been mined (Phase One),
there are remaining clay deposits within this area. After Phase One is mined of all
the clay, Phase Two, (the area outside the fence and within the survey azea) will
be mined for clay.
(e) An access road will be built off of State Highway 61. There will be no sttvcmres
erected. The clay may be sorted, stockpiled or loaded directly onto County trucks
for use as a clay liner for the county landfill cell liner.
(f) The pit will be operated as an open pit. There will be no improvements and
material stockpile dimensions will be determined to facilitate 3H:1V slope.
(g) The access road is within the permit boundary and it may need periodic grading to
accommodate heavy truck traffic.
(h) There will be no water used in conjunction with the mining operation.
(i) The pit will not intercept any groundwater. Ponding of water may occur after a
significant rain. No detrimental effects of water quality are anticipated.
Q) Not applicable.
