DRAFT
11-77, AP, AEA
XOF--Cu•rulic Cryoborolls, Loear,, i.early Level to Gentle Fbpir.7
' This is a deep, u*derately well drained, gravelly loamy soil on narrb-r
floodplairs, drainage ways, and valley bottoms of the mountains. It formed
' in stratified, noncalcareouc, loamy allul6isl materials. Average annucl
precipitation is 19 to 24 inches, and mean annuel air temperature is 41 to
43° F. Frost free season is less than 75 days, and elevationa range from
7000 to 9200 feet. Slopes are nearly level to gently sloping (0-5 percent).
' Included in this unit are areas of deep, well drained soils, Kittredge
and Un (Coca). Also included are Farabdale soils that are poorly drained.
Some =11 areas may also have soils with more than 35 percent rock frag-
ments. Total inclusions are less tban 15 percent of mapping unit.
The soil profile is variable, but mat commonly the surface layer is
a dark grayish brown sandy loam about 7 inches thick, Tho subsoil commonly
is str2tifie: dark -reytFh brown sandy clay Loam with semis of sandy looms
and graNT ly sandy looms with 5 to 10 percent cobbles throughout the pro-
file, extending to 60 inches or more.
Permeability is moderate, and available water capacity is high.
' Effective rootin- depth is more than 60 inches. Surface runoff is slow,
and erosion bazard is slight. Shrink-awell potential commonly is slight.
This soil is subject to occasional flood hazard caused by runoff from
' steeper adjoining sideslopee. DurirC peak runoff :ariods the water table
may rise to within 40 inches of the surface.
This soil ie used for grazing, hayland, recreation, wildlife habitat
' and limited urban development.
Plant Adaptation - Lawns and ornamental plantings may be difficult to
' establish due to the colder climate. Climatically adapted plants should
be selected, and care should be taken to maintain native vegetation.
Co=anity Development - The rrivary limitation to the building of local
roads and houses are occasional flooding and seasonally fluctuating*, water
table. Elevated structures are effective to allow free flow of water during
peal: periods.
1
Capability Subclass: IYw.
' Overflow Pargee Site.
u;{drolor is Group: E.
