This soil has <br />the profile described as representative for the series. <br />Included with this soil in mapping are small areas of <br />Valmont clue loam, 1 to :; percent ,lopes: 2ltmn clay <br />loam, ~; to 5 percent slopes: and Valmont cobbh• clay <br />loam, 1 to ~ percent slopes. In most places it is in <br />areas more than ?f) acres in size, <br />The profile of this soil is mttclt like the one described <br />ns representative for the series, but the surface lacer is <br />about 9 inches of cobble clay Loam. The subsoil is about <br />1-I inches of eobbly cla}- loam or eobbly clue (fig. 5). <br />Lulndcd with this soil in mapping is a Valmont-like <br />soil that is rndder than this soil, that has less than 10 <br />percent gravel and cobblestones, and that contains some <br />deptes.,ions suppnrtin_ no vegetation and having a <br />crusted surface lacer. Also inclnrled are small areas of Val- <br />mont clay loam. ~ to 5 percent slopes. These included <br />soils malre itp about 15 percent of rich mapped area. <br />Runoff is medium on this soil. The erosion hazard is <br />sligbt to moderate. <br />This soil is not well suited to cultivation and the har- <br />vesting of crops because it has too mane cohblestrmes and <br />too mnrL grn•cl on its surface. It is. however. a good <br />gnss•pmdneing soil. .lfost of the acrea_e is used for <br />native ranee. A few small areas are used for irrigated <br />pasture. In most places it is in long, narrow areas more <br />than 30 acres in size. <br />The profile of this soil is much like the one described <br />as represe.ntatire for the series, but the surface layer is <br />abrnlt 6 inches of cobbl}• clay loam. The subsoil is about <br />1~ inches of cobbl}- clay or clay loam. There are varying <br />nmonnts of gncel and cobblestones throughout the pro- <br />file. <br />Inclndcd with this soil in mopping are a few small <br />areas of a Valmont-like soil that has a layer of gravel <br />at a depth of more than ~0 lochs:. A few minor auras <br />hove shale or sandstone nnderlving the very gravelly <br />layers within a depth of -l0 inches from the surface. <br />Also included are some small areas of Valmont eobbly <br />clay loam. 1 to 5 percent slopes. Included soils make np <br />nbnut ?0 percent of earl mapped area. <br />Runoff is medium to rapid on this soil.
