' Figure lA shows the location of the site investigation area. Depetding upon the amount of
work required, one or more test pits will be excavated in the area. One pit will re~ii re a
dozer to prepare a bench for the backhce. However, as stated above topsoil will be salvaged
rom the area prior to o~mpncirg bench wnstruction or pit excavation. The bench and pit
ill be backfilled when no longer needed. The pit areas will be backfilled arri the topsoil
will be redistributed arri seeded with the rar~gelarrl seed mixture. Drainage frmn the area is
controlled by Pond D.
Ditch D-1 will be tempar'arily rerouted in fran of the lobe facility to allow for better
working corrlition. After the site project has been cor~leted it will be returned to its
original location.
In order to cwig~lete the site investigation a number of shallaa monitoring wells were
installed to delineate the extent of diesel plume. In addition to the existing wells two
additional wells will be completed in the area. The ann~~~++~te location of the wells are
shown on Figure 10, Investigation Site Area. If required, additional holes may be drilled
and the wells wnstructed in them.
The wells will be drilled with a mobile auger rig, arri as such, no road work is anticipated.
If a road is required the topsoil will be bladed to the side and temporarily stockpiled.
•~fter the work is ca~leted the topsoil would be redistributed over the road.
The wells will range in depth frcun app~-~Y~~tely 20-80 feet. The wells will be constructed
of 2 or 4 inch PVC. Normal monitoring aryl construction procedures will be used when the
wells are built, e.e. use of clean gravel pads, correctly sized screen, and surface plug.
When the wells are no lorger needed the wells will be plugged with grout. The wells will be
cut off three feet below grade aryl then grouted from the bottom up. This plugging procedure
applies to all of the wells at the site.
Railroad
The railroad track was extended approximately 30o feet in 1987. The details of the extension
are enumerated within Minor Revision 87-12.

MR 90-71 Permit Renewal 780-30-3 Revised 07/30/91
