Most stormwater runoff wi~ow across the site toward the excavatedpit that will act as a
settling basin. The excavation will retain runoff from small storm events on-site.
Some channelization may need to be added during future mining phases in order to continue
collecting runoff in the excavation. Any stormwater conveyance improvements will be described
in future annual SWMP reports if they are constructed.
Problems associated with sediment transport through the floodplain aze expected to be minor.
Flood elevations in this area are not expected to be impacted by this operation. The excavation
of a pit will reduce the floodplain width as well as the flow velocities. It will act as a sediment
trap and reduce the amount of sediment potentially leaving the site.
Equipment used for the extraction and hauling of the aggregate will be stored on-site, near the
office. Daily equipment monitoring will occur on-site. Maintenance and repair activities will be
performed off site. Occasionally, a mobile service truck may be brought on site to perform oil
changes.
3.0 Potential Pollutant SourceslMaterial Inventory
Potential pollutants expected to be stored on-site would include but not be limited to, diesel fuel,
and small amounts of miscellaneous equipment fluids and oils. There will be one diesel fuel tank
with the capacity for 10,000 gallons of fuel.
One pazking area for both employee vehicles and the mining equipment will be located near the
office trailer. This azea will be gravel.
Haul routes within the site will be gravel or dirt, depending on their location, and can be
expected to be a source of potential pollution to stormwater runoff Access roads into the site
will be gravel.
When the asphalt batch plant is brought on site the components will consist of approximately
10,000 gallons of emulsified asphalt, approximately 25,000 gallons of ac cement and
approximately 10,000 gallons of burner fuel to operate the plant. Waste asphalt will also be used
(recycled) at this plant. Waste oils from the mining equipment at the site will be recycled and
used in the production of asphalt.
No spills of significant quantities of any substance are known to exist at this site.
4.0 Best Managewent Practices LBMPs)_for Stormwater Pollution Prevention
4.1 SWMP Administrator
Dave Simpson, Vice President of Connell Resources, will be the S WMP Administrator. The
Administrator will be responsible for handling the day to day management of the S WMP at the
site. The SWMP Administrator may appoint other personnel to assist him as needed. A SWMP
team may be created to shaze the responsibility and generate greater awareness and participation.
Any and all changes to the SWMP will be noted directly on the report or the maps for
incorporation into the plan.
