(:reyslune Devrlupmenl (;unsullanls, Inc. <br />• <br />June 10, 1986 <br />Paqe 5. <br />Coal Moisture Loss <br />As projected in the December 3, 1984 OSM memorandum, coal <br />moisture loss has been determined to be insignificant with <br />respect to streamflow depletions. <br />Direct Diversions <br />Twentymile Coal Company has not proposed any direct diver- <br />sion of surface waters for mining operational use, therefore, no <br />impact will be associated with surface streamflow depletions. <br />Summary of Worst Case Depletions <br />Summary of water depletions for the Foidel Creek Mine <br />operations are as follows: <br />Pii ne consumption - 27 acre-feet per year loss <br />Ventilation consumption - 86 acre-feet per year loss <br />Coal processing consumption - no consumption <br />Sediment pond evaporation - insignificant <br />Subsidence effects on Springs and Seeps - insignificant <br />Alluvial well pumpage - no consumption <br />Alluvial aquifer abstraction into mine - 60 acre-feet per year <br />predicted loss, however, 405 acre-feet per year augmentation <br />from deep aquifers <br />Deep aquifer pumpage - 27 acre-feet per year augmentation <br />Postmining inflow to workings - insignificant <br />Coal moisture loss - insignificant <br />Direct diversion - no consumption <br />From the calculations listed above, mining operations at the <br />Foidel Creek Mine should result in streamflow augmentation over <br />the life of the operation. As a result, TCC requests a "no <br />effect" opinion on impacts related to surface water depletions. <br />• <br />Revised 10/24/86 <br />
