Colorado 80203
Re: Summit Pressed Brick & Tile - Calhan Clay Pit
Dear Mr. Oswald:
This office has reviewed the cultural resource report prepared by William
Arbogast for the above proposed project.
We concur that sites SEP2129, SEP2130, SEP2131, SEP2133, SEP2134, SEP2135,
SEP2136, SEP2137, SEP2138 and SEP2139 are not eligible to the State or
National Register of Historic Places. These sites consist of small lithic
scatters and historic trash that will yield no further information
important to prehistory or history.
We also concur that lithic sites SEP2132 and SEP2140 need to be tested to
determine if there are significant subsurface cultural deposits. These
two sites are on the edge of the mining siCe and can be easily avoided by
project activities. Since avoidance is being planned, we will concur with
the no effect determination. The areas in red on the enclosed map need to
be avoided
If we may be of further assistance please contact Jim Green at 866-4674.
Sincerely,
4 ames E.
