Lake Area. Exhibit E of our report states 80 acre of lake which includes both the
shallow and deep lake areas. Exhibit G of our report notes 56.3 acres of open water
needing augmentation for evaporation. R'e expect that most of the shallow lake area will
be overgrown with cat tails, bullrush, and other aquatic plants. The State Engineer does
no[ require augmentation for evaporation on water which is covered by plants. Thus both
figures for lake area are correct in the context they aze used.
B) Maximum Angle of Excavation. The operator will excavate the deposit to form more
traditional highwalls for a short period of time. "fhus Exhibit L needs to be revised to
show the cost of pushing material into [he pit to form the 3:1 and 2:1 side slopes. With
this letter you will find a calculation sheet determining the volume of material needed to
backfill the active mining area of two acres. Also you will find a revised Exhibit L
showing an increase in the proposed Financial Warranty to $115,533.
This letter and its enclosures aze being sent by fax with a hard copy to follow. Please call me if
you have any further questions.
Cordially,
TUTTLE APPLEGATE, INC.
ary J the
GJT/ r
Encs.
cc: File #96-138A
Jeff Gregg, Hall-Irwin Construction
0:196/38Lyrladegrm.ln
11990 Grant Street, Suite 410 • Denver, Colorado 60233 • (303) 452-6611 • Fax (303) 452-2759
