Native species are present <br /> in limited amounts . <br /> In contrast to the heavily grazed areas , there are portions <br /> of the floodplain that are grazed only late in the year. <br /> Native species of prairie and sedge meadow types occur in <br /> these areas in great enough numbers that these pastures <br /> resemble original vegetation types. <br /> Grazed Gallery Forest. Under natural conditions the gallery <br /> forest along the creek would be a well-stratified community. <br /> Grazing and channelization disturbances have produced an <br /> ecologically unstable condition in which shrubs are absent, <br /> • and most of the herbaceous species are introduced weeds . <br /> Cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum) , dandelion (Tarazacum officinale) , <br /> quackgrass (Agropyron repens) , Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis) , <br /> and English plantain (Plantago lanceolata) are the most common <br /> species. <br /> Marsh.'
