The information provided indicates the mining operation will affect 6.5 acres during Aprll <br />through October, and therefore would be subject to the Boulder County Zoning Resolution. <br />Section 28-253A of the Boulder County Zoning Resolution defines "Limited impact Open Mining" as: <br />The extraction of rock, natural mineral deposits, or any other earth materials by removing the overburden <br />(if requited) lying above such deposits or other materials and mining directly from the exposed deposits <br />or other materials; where such mining operation affects less than ten acres of land within a parcel and <br />extracts less than 70,000 tons of rock, mineral, overburden, other earth materials, or combination thereof. <br />Which proposes to: (1) export material in excess of S00 cubic yards off the parcel on which the mining <br />occurs, and/or (2) has operations that exceed five consecutive days or fourteen days total. and/or (3) <br />utilizes blasting. Limited Impact Open Mining is subject to a "Use Permitted By Special Review" which <br />must be approved by the Board of County Commissioners, per Article 20 of the Boulder County Zoning <br />Resolution. <br />Please contact this office regarding a Special Review application for Limited Impact Open Mining on your <br />panel. Apre-application conference with a platmer is required, and at that time you wiB receive the <br />necessary application forms and list of requirements.
