For successful seedings, a .eedbed should be prepared and the <br />seeds drilled. The plants selected for seeding should meet the <br />seasonal requirements of livestock or wildlife, or both. <br />The management practices suitable for use ~n this unit are proper <br />grazing use and a planned grazing system. Brush management improves <br />deteriorated areas of range that are producing more woody shrubs than <br />were present in the potential plant community. <br />This unit provides wildlife habitat for mu '.e deer, cottontail, <br />hawks, and eagles. <br />This unit is well suited to irrigated crops. It is limited mainly <br />by lack of a dependable source of irrigation water. Irrigation water <br />can be applied by the sprinkler or controlled flooding irrigation <br />methods. The method used generally is governed by the crop. Under a <br />high level of management, this unit is capable of producing 22 tons of <br />corn silage per acre, 5.5 tons of alfalfa hay per acre, 4.5 tons of <br />grass hay per acre, 110 bushels of barley per acre, or 80 bushels of <br />oats per acre. <br />This unit is well suited to recreational development. <br />This unit is well suited to homesite development. If the 8arx <br />soil is used for septic tank absorption fields, the limitation of <br />moderate permeability can be overcome by increr.sing the size of the <br />absorption field. <br />This map unit is in capability subclasses IIIe, irrigated, and <br />IVc, nonirrigated.
