Where <br />the range is in poor condition, th-se plants are dominant. Grazing <br />should be managed so that the desirable balance of species is <br />maintained in the plant community. <br />If the range vegetation is ser'ously deteriorated, seeding Is <br />needed. For successful seeding, ~ seedbed should be prepared and the <br />seeds drilled. The plants selectee' for seeding should meet the <br />seasonal requirements of livestock or wildlife, or both. <br />The management practices suita`le for use on this unit are proper <br />grazing use and a planned grazing ystem. Brush management improves <br />deteriorated areas of range that a~-e producing more woody shrubs than <br />were present in the potential plant community. <br />This unit provides wildlife habitat for mule deer, cottontail, <br />~~- <br />I <br />eagles, and hawks. <br />This unit is well suited to irrigated crops. Irrigation water can <br />be applied by the sprinkler or con'~rol flooding irrigation methods. <br />The method used generally is governed by the crop. Under a high level <br />of management, this unit is capably of producing 18 tons of corn <br />silage per acre, 5.5 tons of aifal~'a hay per acre, 3.5 tons of grass <br />hay per acre, 110 bushels of feed barley per acre, or 80 bushels of <br />oats per acre. <br />This unit is well suited to recreational development.
