Section 785.19 (c) Continued.
r~
L
•
The fifth subject area is Williams Draw. It is located on photo-
graph 359 parallel and to the left of Bush Draw. Red reflectance
is visible along the entire length of the draw but is restricted to
the narrow streambed, except for about a two acre area associated
with a retention dam located approximately two inches from the
Canadian River (on the photograph). On the upstream aide of the
dam there is a red area of herbaceous vegetation located in the
bottom of the channel. The redness indicates that sufficient
moisture is present to sustain green living plants. The reddish-
yellow areas adjacent to the dark red area indicates that few green
plants are present outside the stream channel. White areas adja-
cent to the drainage channel are areas with sparse plant cover and
bare ground interspaces. The plants appear as bluish blotches when
viewed with 8x magnification. Whitish areas on the ridges and
upland areas bordering the draw have a gravel or exposed shale
interspace with little plant cover. The lack of green plant cover
along the floodplain demonstrates the absence of sub-irrigation.
There is no evidence of a flood irrigation system associated with
Williams Draw.
The sixth subject area is Sudduth Draw located to the north of
Williams Draw on photograph 359. There are intermittent areas
displaying red reflectance in Sudduth Draw. These are associated
with retention dams. Three inches from the bottom of the photo-
graph is the first and largest of four ponds that can be seen in
the draw. The channel upstream from this pond has no red reflec-
tance indicating that it is either denuded of plants or that the
plant material is dry and of a yellow color. One inch down stream
is the second pond which is seen as a powder blue color. The third
pond is 3/4 of an inch below the second and can be seen with a 2x
stereoscope. Red reflectance can be observed from below the first
pond to 3/8th of an inch below the third pond. Because of the
785-26
