TABLE 4.1-2 <br />TEST PIT TP <br />• <br />The test pit is located in the alluvial sediments of <br />the Munger Canyon, about one quarter of a mile from the <br />confluence. The surface is flat, the soils are of alluvial <br />origin. The surface is covered by sagebrush and grasses. <br />There are no signs of agricultural activity except for <br />possible occasional grazing. <br />There are no significant soil horizons identifiable <br />except for the A-horizon, slightly organic topsoil.. <br />0 - 1" - Poor vegetation cover <br />1 - 8" - Grey, very fine sand, medium hard, dry, <br />low porosity, no traces of mottling, <br />frequent fine roots <br />• 8 - 31" - Grey, very fine sand, few dispersed <br />small pebbles, few organic pieces, low <br />porosity, no mottling, numerous fine <br />roots <br />31 - 38" - Fine, loamy gravel, pebbles up to 1 inch <br />diameter, angular, medium hard, dry, <br />medium porosity, probably low permeabili- <br />ty, lenticular character <br />38 - 57" - Grey, fine sand, with several lenses, <br />1 - 2 inches thick of coarse sand or fine <br />gravel with individual pebbles up to <br />~ inch. Sand is medium hard, slightly <br />moist, medium porous,few very fine roots <br />• 57 - 63" - Grey, loamy gravel, well-rounded pebbles <br />up to 4 inches diameter, several boulders <br />up to 12 inches diameter, medium hard, <br />
