TABLE 3.7-1 Reclamation Cost Calculations -Revisions
SHOP CONSTRUCTION DETAILS (MR - 25 )
• As has been done with the existing shop floor, expansion joints will enhance removal. To
expand the shop from 40 feet square to 40 by 100 feet will require installation of additional
concrete floor. The floor will be 6 inch thick wire reinforced concrete. To enhance the ease
of reclamation, the concrete will be poured in segments that will have full thickness expansion
joints. These joints will allow the floor to be removed in panels that will be 10 feet wide by
13.3 feet long. These panels will be disposed of at the toe of the cut slope west of the shop
backfilled in the portals. Shown below is a 1" = 20' plan view of the addition.
The floor is designed for easy removal. The costs shown in "Means" can not be used.
Presented below are the estimated costs of demolishing and disposing of the floor.
Remove Panels - Cat 225 Excavator -The excavator will lift one comer of each panel
to break it loose.
5 minutes per panel 30 panels 150 minutes to demolish floor
USE 3.0 hours @ 80.00 $lttr $240 to demolish floor
Dispose of panels - Can use Means Disposal cost @ 5.18 $/cuyd
Volume of concrete = (0.5'40'100)/27 = 74.1 cuyd
Disposal cost = $384
Total Cost of Floor Reclamation = $624
BUILDING REMOVAL As the name Implies "FOLD-A-WAY the building is portable
and is engineered for easy removal -Means will not apply.
Use 5 Man Crew - 4 Laborers @ 20.00 $/hr
1 Lead Laborer @ 25.00 $/hr Total Crew 105 $/5man hour
Per ATCO Demolition = 80 Manhours + 12 HR Crane Time
Use Grove RT 586 @ $73.00 / hr Demolition Cost = $2,556.00
The panels will be disposed of in the mine using the D~ Dozer @ $ 45.00 per hour.
The dozer will simply push the panels into the mine. Use 15 minutes per panel.
10 panels X 15 minutes + 30 minutes per end wall. Disposal = $157.50
TOTAL COST TO REMOVE ENTIRE 40' by 100' BUILDING $3,337.20
The Division calculates the cost of floor removal to be $1,482.00 which raises the cost of
building removal to $4,195.20. Grand Valley does not agree with this estimate but
• will agree to use $4,195.20 for the reclamation cost.
DIVISION ESTIMATE _ $4,195.20
Mc Vol 1 - Td 3.7-1 Task 20 Pape 5 11 - 19 -98
