• STIPUI.NTION #8.
Pittsburg and Midway, in conjunction with the Division, will determine
applicable revegetation success criteria for the area known as West Ridge at
the Edna Mine. These success criteria shall be determined no later than D4arch
31, 1982.
4.15.10 Revegetation S:ccess Criteria: Frel-iously Dlined Lands
(I) For previously mined areas that were not reclaimed to the require-
mens of these rules, the ground cover of living plants shall not be less than
can be supported by the best available topsoil or other suitable material in
the reaffected areas, shall rot be less than the ground cover existing before
redisturbance, and shall be adequate to control erosion.
On August 26, 1981, fifteen transects were sampled on the West Ridge area.
Each transect was 50 meters in length and was sampled at 5 meter intervals by
• means of a 10-Point frame set at an angle of 45 degrees. Cover was measured
as first hit only for each pin, i~*ith 100 hits possible per transect.
Sample adequacy was determined by the equation:
t2s2
D1 =
(~ 2
P'!iere
?d = T•linimuTr num?~ observations needed
t = A table vG~_,.. ~;5
s = Standard Deg : ,~.
x = The mean
For the fifteen obsen-aticr_s (transects) taken on V7est Ridge, the mean (x~
• 1.as 47.07 and the standard deviation(s) was 10.35. The minimum number of obser-
vations needed was 13. A st.-•~rary of the cover data transects is presented in
