Ricnartl D. Lamm
Governor
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
David H. Getches. Eaecut,ve Director
MINED LAND RECLAMATION D11
DAVID C. SHELTON, Dlreetor
December 16, 1983
Mr. Mike Cambell
Pittsburg and Midway Coal Mining Co.
P.O. Box 176
Oak Creek, Colorado 80467
Re: Stipulations 6 and 7 to the Edna Mine Permit - File No. C-001-80
Dear Mr. Cambell:
This letter confirms that the requirements of stipulations 6 and 1 to the
Edna Mine permit have been fulfilled. As was agreed at the September 22,
1983 mine site meeting, the following stipulation resolutions are
acceptable to the Division.
Stipulation No. 6 - P&M has established a minimum woody plant
density standard of 1,000 stems per acre to be planted as islands
in the Moffat area. The plan to this affect was submitted to the
Division on November 17, 1982.
Stipulation No. 7 - P&M has agreed to a standard for species
diversity based on relative species importance based on relative
species importance. P8d~1 has chosen to use 4% as the minimum
relative plant cover value in determining species importance as was
submitted on December 8, 1983.
At some point in time P8d~1 should incorporate the responses (including
maps and plans) to all of the stipulations into the permit document.
Perhaps the best time for this endeavor will be this spring during the
mid-term review.
Regarding your request for a mine site discussion of grazing, it appears
that submittal of your proposal with a follow up meeting here in Denver
would be more appropriate. Please contact me with a suggested date for
the meeting.
Sincerely,
~~ , ~/
a
• Carol Russell
Reclamation Specialist
CR/th
Doc.
