~ Page 2 - Dave Zeeb
6/5/81
~3 First Air shaft site, south fork of Apache Canyon.
A2 horizon; Clay loam, 0-2 inches; Ph 6.8, SAR 5.6, EC 0.9.
B21t horizon: clay, 2 to 16; inches; Ph 6.6, SAR a.0, EC 0.9.
B22t horizon: clay; 16 to 40 inches; Ph 6.6, SAR 4.0, EC 0.9.
Recommendations: Separation of horizons is not necessary. This soil
does not have problems with solvable salts. It is an acceptable growth
medium with sufficient water. Excess fines is the only hazard of this
soil. Soil type is Fuera clay loam.
~4 Second Air shaft site, north fork Apache Canyon.
Al horizon; sandy loam 0-38 inches, Ph 7.0, SAR 4,2, EC 0,9,
C horizon; sandy loam 38-60 inches; Ph 7.6, SAR 6.6, EC 1.8.
Recommendations: The A and C horizons should be stockpiled separately.
Both horizons are excellent sources of topsoil. They do not have any
hazards. Soil type is Table Mountain Loam.
A soil sample was taken at the established air shaft in Apache Canyon
and determined to be Table Mountain Loam. It is an excellent growth
medium for most types of vegetation.
• If you have any questions or need additional information please let
me know.
Sincerely,
Lee A. Neve
Soil Scientist
